i think is what i will look like in 20 years. no real reason for the picture, i really just wanted to let you know about the meal i enjoyed and i didn’t take a picture of it (iPhone camera = rearry bad row-right pitures.)
so bethany and dan came up from portland with their friends chris and brita. we went out to their friend scott’s restaurant in kirkland (market street cafe...GO THERE!) where he is chef.
since it was chris’ birthday there was a little tasting menu planned for us. i say little as a joke. this was a nine-course, no-holds-barred, gout-inducing feast for the ages.
it consisted of (in order):
*prosciutto-wrapped figs with vanilla infused truffle oil. also served were house-made olives;
*potato & bacon tartar with frise, egg, red onion and truffle oil;
*soft shell crab with lobster truffle cream;
*roasted cauliflower and penne cove mussel chowder with salmon roe;
*butternut squash ravioli with tangerine browned butter;
*black cod with lentils, braised cabbage and mushroom jus;
*lobster pot pie with parisian vegetables, yellowfoot mushrooms, rapini and truffle cream;
*pork belly with rapini, pearl onions, lardon, thyme, jus naturale and walnut praline and apple confit;
*liquid chocolate cake with tangerine caramel, cola powder and creme fraiche.
STILL HUNGRY???
there was also wine pairings with each course. insanity! we sat down at around 7 for our first course. we were served coffee at midnight.
